It was an “atomic wedgie” that led to a tragic death of a stepfather in Oklahoma, now his stepson has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the killing.
According to The Oklahoman, 34-year-old Brad Lee Davis, a former Marine, admitted to killing his stepfather during a fight on Dec. 21, 2013 inside a trailer. Davis was arrest for first-degree murder one month later and claimed it was all in self-defense.
Davis’ stepfather, who is identified as 58-year-old Denver Lee St. Clair, was killed “when the elastic band of his torn, blue underwear was pulled over his head and ended up tightly against the front of his neck, cutting off his air,” the report said.
An autopsy concluded that Clair’s air was not only restricted but that he had also been “beaten around the head.” Court records say photos were taken of the victim before and after the attack.

At this point, you may be asking yourself what exactly is an atomic wedgie? The Oklahoman says it’s slang for the most “extreme version of the common underwear-yanking prank.”
As for Davis, reports say initially he told two different stories to investigators after Clair died before recently reaching a deal and admitting guilt. His attorney recently spoke out and said there was never intent to kill Clair and that he had been “bullied” by his stepfather his entire life.
A possible motive for the attack may be because David’s mother, who was in the hospital at the time, had filed for divorce and Clair reportedly told Davis she was “worthless.”
